I tried to find gift ideas that might be a bit different—no ties or golf-related items {wink}. Links to resources in the product names.
Homemade Hot Sauce
For those of you who like to cook, this could really be a special gift, it won’t cost a lot or take a lot of time. And personal touches such as custom labels and special bottles or jars take it to the next level (check Ikea, TJ Maxx, Home Goods or even WalMart). A couple of recipes I found:
Homemade Bourbon Bacon Brittle
I had initially found an artisanal shop that offered boozy brittles and gourmet marshmallows, but sadly they only do local catering now. But I wanted some of their brittle! So here’s another homemade item that would surely be appreciated by dad (or mom…or just about anyone). Gift packaging idea: wrap brittle within sheets of tissue paper and put into a cigar box.
On the Rocks Drink Chillers
Serve drinks literally “on the rocks.” Smooth, circular granite disks made from polished rocks found on New England beaches, these chill dad’s drink of choice without diluting it. Set of six stones with a hardwood storage tray and two recycled glass tumblers.
